[Excerpt from a torn page probably from someone's diary.]
"We were by the ocean... Just... Just walking along the beach. We saw some docks with some boats anchored there. We thought that we'd be safe on the seas... We thought that surely the infected couldn't get to us there.
We were wrong... I... I was wrong. So very wrong.
We didn't even leave the docks before it appeared. We were setting up the boat and putting aside our precious few belongings and settling the children where they would be safe. Then I heard a scream. A horrible scream. So I went up on deck. One of the men in our group, Josh, was pinned to the deck by some... Some horrible looking thing. It was soaking wet. The human-ish thing's thin hair was plastered to its baggy almost scaly looking skin. Its horrible milky white eyes roved madly as it tore at Josh with its jagged, sharp teeth. Terrified, I shot it. Sally, another of our group tried to go to Josh, but as she reached him, another of the water-logged zombies leapt from the water as though propelled from a canon. It grabbed her as it sailed over the ship, taking her into the water with it. On the other side of the ship, as I dared to venture, blood rose to the surface... Then a swarm of this infected monster formed a frenzy around her body under the water like koi fish at the zoo...
We can assume that they are drawn to the scent of blood in the water much like a shark. Their milky eyes mean that they are blind, probably from swimming in the water as they do. They seem to still need to rise to the surface for air, but not as frequently as a normal human. I don't know how they know that you're on a ship or walking along the shore... I can only assume that they have an incredible sense of hearing and a good sense of smell. As far as how they came into being... I don't know. Perhaps people once tried to kill zombies by throwing them into the water, but some of them seemed to have adapted to the watery enviro-"
