This is Noobville- Population? You. There are two admins that will be noobville-ing with you: mostly Luke, and sometimes Miguel. Luke is the nicer of the two.
Luke's Noobville-ing Rules:
[Insert your rules here Luke. But I do think that as soon as somebody understands what's going on- stop. Mid RP or whatever. I think that the shorter it is and the less time it takes, the better.]
Miguel's Noobville-ing Rules:
Hola, mis amigos! I am the manager of the Noobville section. I'm here to give the hard and fast on the quick track of how to RP if you're a noob. (No longer accepting veterans) We will be using this to teach you.
Fortunately (or unfortunately) for you- I am a very objective person and will be rather... merciless. Call me a cold-hearted jerk among other things if you must, but understand me now- I don't care.
I have a general list of things I want to accomplish through this-
1.) Give people a quick and painless rundown on posting.
2.) Teach people how to come up with or at least advance a plot so they don't have to be a 'follower'.
3.) Get people more comfortable with one-on-one posting, since it can be intimidating
4.) To make you an even better poster in our community.
I will post your topic where I want and I'll post the link to it in your bio and PM it to you.
"But! But! Miguel~! I don't want to do this one!"
Suck it up, buttercup. You'll do it or you won't be able to post. I don't have time to wait for you guys to agonize on how to start an RP. (something people struggle with). So I'll do it. However- if you beat me to it, it's okay. KUDOS TO YOU MAN! You took the initiative.
Secondly- You post three times. BAM. That's all you got. Me, you, me, you, me, you, me (either to wrap it up or grade you depending on your last post.)
"But! But! Miguel~! Why just three?!"
Because you're a noob and this a 'crash course'. I don't have time to baby you for 20 posts. This is it. Three and we both get to move on with our posting lives. You'll get more experience as you go along.
-That said this is how each storyline will basically go:
---I set the scene.
--[glow=red,2,300]You[/glow] advance the plot. Which, TA-DAH! Means that you'll be doing some talking for Miguel. ;D
---I set scene of climax.
--[glow=red,2,300]You[/glow] write your side of the happenings of the climax.
---I end the conflict.
--[glow=red,2,300]You[/glow] wrap it up.
---I either wrap it up for you and/or evaluate your posting style.
----If you do not advance the plot and try to have cutesy chat time, I'll advance the plot for you and if you don't like it, guess what? Too bad.
Also, as we go along, if you make grammar/spelling mistakes or powerplay Miguel, I will go back and correct what you did.
"But! But! Miguel~! That's mean!"
No, it's to show you what you need to improve on. And at the end, I'll point it out again- if needed. Do a good job and I just might praise you. I may have to tell you to watch your powerplays, use better grammar (unless you're foreign because that's not fair or if your character just speaks that way- that's different and I can recognize that from a typo or poor grammar), or if you repeatedly spelled a certain word wrong. Harsh? Perhaps. Beneficial? Yes. Like it or not.
Which isn't to say that I am perfect. I'm not. I know this. But I don't have any problems progressing a plot, coming up with one, starting an RP, accurately writing another's character (no power-playing for me) and my grammar and spelling are typically quite good.
And... Well... That pretty much sums it up. Let's get started.
